On April 5 th, Texas lawmakers unanimously passed a bill that would cancel the tax incentives for local bitcoin mining business. The bill, initiated by Republican state senators Lois Kolkhorst, Donna Campbell and Robert Nichols, aims to cancel the tax relief and require miners who use more than 10 megawatts (MW) to register as flexible load operators with the state grid operator ERCOT.
In response, Dennis Porter, CEO of Satoshi Action Fund, a bitcoin mining advocacy company, said on Twitter that the bill would eliminate incentives for miners to create jobs in rural communities.
