Overview
The Altcoin Peak Strength Index (APSI) is a comprehensive indicator designed to identify peak performance periods for altcoins relative to the overall cryptocurrency market. By combining elements such as EMA, Rate of Change (RoC), RSI, and the Omega Ratio, APSI provides a robust measure of market strength and trend conditions.
How It Works
Relative Strength Metrics: APSI calculates short-term and long-term Exponential Moving Averages (EMA), the Rate of Change (RoC), and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) to assess market momentum and strength.
Omega Ratio: The indicator also evaluates the Omega Ratio by comparing positive and negative returns over a specified lookback period, adding an extra dimension of performance analysis.

Benchmark Comparison: APSI uses the total crypto market cap (CRYPTOCAP:TOTAL) and a dedicated altcoin market cap index (CRYPTOCAP:OTHERS.D) as benchmarks.
Dynamic Plots: The indicator plots two primary lines representing the relative strength of the total market cap (in aqua) and the altcoin market cap (in fuchsia), along with a difference line (in blue).
Interpretation
Risk-On (Blue Plot > Aqua and Fuchsia): When the blue plot (the difference between major coins and altcoins) is above both the aqua and fuchsia plots, it indicates a risk-on environment where altcoins are outperforming the broader market.
Bullish but Exhausted (Aqua Plot > Blue and Fuchsia): When the aqua plot (total market cap strength) is above the blue and fuchsia plots, it suggests that the market is still bullish, but altcoins might be experiencing trend exhaustion.
