This doesnt have to happen. Alot of times my lines get hit. Take it how you want to, it is what it is to be honest. ETH will function at $170 or $17 or $1,000 doesnt matter really as long as the network advances and handles scaling issues, it will become more valuable... BUT, there's alot of variables to consider here and manipulation and momentum is strong in the altcoins market. Btc will suffer short term but after the halving, with altcoins purged, BTC will race off to the moon again leaving alts in the dust until BTC takes breaks in bull flags and they try to catch up /profits are disbursed until BTC races off again.
